Siamese Algae Eaters are an excellent option for algae control in the freshwater aquarium. Unlike common plecos, they stay relatively small, are completely peaceful, and may be kept in groups. Overall, these fish are torpedo shaped, but with a flattened underside, with gray-tank coloration, and a bold black stripe running horizontally across the length of the body.
Care
Siamese Algae Eaters grow up to 6", and can be kept in aquariums of 20 gallons or larger. They prefer soft and acidic water, though they are very adaptable to common aquarium chemistry. They prefer to be kept in small groups in densely planted aquariums with plenty of areas for hiding spots.
Diet
Siamese Algae Eaters, as the name suggests, are excellent algae eaters. They'll get most of their nutrition from foraging algae, but their diets should be supplemented with sinking algae wafers or sliced vegetables such as zucchini or cucumbers.
