The Blue Emperor Tetra is a small schooling fish native to South America. Its body is mostly creams and tans with a thick black horizontal stripe running from nose to tail. Mature males in breeding condition will display a beautiful blue iridescent sheen on the top half of their bodies.

Care

Ember Tetras grow to about 1.5", and should be kept in groups in an aquarium of at least 10 gallons. They're an active mid to top level swimmer, and should be provided with plenty of plants and rocks for hiding to feel most comfortable. They're a small fish with a small mouth, making them an attractive option to keep with small ornamental shrimp like Cherry Shrimp or Crystal Shrimp.

Diet

Blue Emperor Tetras aren't picky eaters, and will happily accept prepared flake or pellet foods.
