The Purple Tang is a beautiful and regal species of Zebrasoma tang native to the Red Sea notable for its strikingly vivid purple coloration, and brightly contrasting yellow tail.
Care
Purple Tangs grow up to 10 inches long, and should be kept in aquariums of 125 gallons or more. Like other tangs, they're generally reef safe, though they have a reputation for being one of the more aggressive species of tangs, especially against other similarly shaped zebrasoma tangs. Make sure to provide plenty of open swimming space as well as ample rockwork for grazing and hiding.
Diet
Purple Tangs, like other surgeonfish, are mostly herbivorous, and should be provided with a diet rich in vegetable matter such as dried nori sheets. They'll also readily accept meaty frozen or prepared foods.
