Electric Blue Acara are a selectively bred variant of the wild type blue acara, native to South America. They're notable for their amazing iridescent silvery blue coloration, existing even in juvenile fish and becoming more dramatic with age. Mature fish will also develop orange fringing on the dorsal and tail fins.
Care
Electric Blue Acara grow to 8", and should be kept in aquariums of 30 gallons or larger. Unlike many other new world cichlids, they are very peaceful, and generally make great community fish. In addition to their ideal temperament, they're also very hardy and adaptable to common aquarium chemistries. They like to dig, and should be provided with soft, sandy substrate for them to sift through.
Diet
Electric Blue Acara are omnivorous, and should readily accept prepared flake or pellet foods in addition to frozen or live options.
