The MochaVinci Clownfish is a stunning designer variant of the popular Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) created by Sea & Reef Aquaculture by crossing a Black Ocellaris Clownfish (Darwin) with the DaVinci Ocellaris Clownfish. The MochaVinci Clownfish has inherited the classic swirly white pattern of the DaVinci Clownfish, but the red coloration has been replaced by a more golden and black coloration that darkens with age similar to that of Black Ice Clownfish and Maine Mocha Clownfish

Description:

Common Name: MochaVinci Clownfish (Grade B)

Scientific Name: Amphiprion ocellaris

Family: Pomacentridae

Maximum Size: 3.5 inches (9 cm)

Coloration: Mocha body with intricate white patterns unique to the DaVinci line. Grade B markings may have less symmetry or minor imperfections compared to Grade A.

Temperament: Peaceful but territorial, especially when mature or hosting an anemone.

Aquarium Setup:

Tank Size: 20 gallons (75 liters) or larger

Water Parameters:

Temperature: 75-82°F (24-28°C)

pH: 8.1-8.4

Salinity: 1.023-1.025

Reef Compatibility: Reef-safe; will not harm corals or other invertebrates.

Tankmates: Compatible with most peaceful fish species; avoid housing with overly aggressive tankmates.

Care Level:

Difficulty: Easy; suitable for beginners.

Diet: Omnivorous; feeds on a variety of foods including quality pellets, frozen Mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and marine flakes.

Compatibility: Best kept singly, in pairs, or in a peaceful community tank. If introducing a pair, ensure one is smaller to establish a dominant female.

Behavior and Aquascaping:

MochaVinci Clownfish are active swimmers and spend much of their time in the mid-water column. They may host a variety of anemones, such as Bubble Tip Anemones (Entacmaea quadricolor), though hosting is not guaranteed in captivity. Provide plenty of live rock and hiding spots for security.

Additional Tips:

While hardy, MochaVinci Clownfish thrive in well-established aquariums with stable water parameters. Their designer coloration does not affect their care, making them just as easy to keep as traditional Ocellaris Clownfish.
