Kribensis Cichlid - Pelvicachromis pulcher

Kribensis cichlids are a unique species of African cichlid native to the river deltas of Nigeria. Their bodies have horizontal brown and yellow banding with cherry red bellies on mature females. The dorsal and caudal fins display firey yellow, orange, and red patterning on the edges.       

Care

Kribensis cichlids grow to about 4", and should be kept in tanks over 20 gallons. Unlike many African cichlids, kribensis are generally non-aggresive, but may nip the fins of more peaceful fish with long flowing fins. These bottom dwelling fish should be provided with plenty of vegetation and caves for hiding. There are many options for kribensis tankmates, as they do well in most community tank settings, though it's best to avoid too many other bottom or cave dwellers.       

Diet

Kribensis cichlids are omnivores, and will accept most flake or pellet foods, as well as frozen options.
